I am a WWII and Korean War Veteran. I retired with 21.5 years in 1967. I was assigned to the "Famed" White Tigers in Korea (UNPIK) Special Ops 8240th AU. At the age of 85, am a Life Member of VFW Post 1370 in Pontiac, Mi and an "Honorary Brig. Gen. with the Michigan Minuteman Platoon "Honor Guard" (Rifle Team) performing Military Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery located in Holly, Michigan. It has been a GREAT honor for me. Audie Murphy has always been my HERO. I have visited his gravesite in Arlington several times. It is my Computer "Wallpaper" Added: November 22, 2013

Thank you for this wonderful site and all who have contributed to it. When I was in my teens I loved watching Audie Murphy's films. One day my mother (who had served in the Air Force in Australia during World War 2, mentioned that he was the most decorated American soldier of WW2. To know that Audie was indeed a hero as well as a much admired actor has kept me interested in this man all my life. I still have the newspaper clippings from our local paper when he died. I am 61 years of age and have been avidly reading all the information on your wonderful website. Thank you for keeping his memory alive. As a child I had 2 actors that I never missed John Wayne and Audie Murphy. I trained dogs for Search and Rescue. My 3rd and last dog was name after Audie Murphy. I wanted a name that he could live up to.
