I had the privilege of meeting Audie Murphy in the mid 50's. I was Manager of the Melba Theatre in Dallas and had a meeting with Shipper Cherry at the Palace Theatre when Audie came out of his office and he introduced himself to me. I will never forget how nice he was.

What an unbelievable life of heroism he led. I am so pleased to learn that this memorial exists. He is a true American hero, who seemed to be very humble and his memory should NEVER fade. His legacy must live on forever.

Heard so much about him when I was in the Army 1954-1956 and stationed at Ft. Benning Ga.
I was in the 714 Tank Battalion Third division. Most of our service was spent helping train ROTC infintry officers.
