Audie Murphy has always been one of my greatest heroes, in real life and on the silver screen. In the Army, our platoon sargeant called the recon guys Audie Wayne. Half Audie Murphy and half John Wayne. He was a great citizen, soldier and man.

I worked with a young man yesterday who is very young looking for 18 years, later I thought of Audie Murphy and how he must have felt at the same age. The next time I see this young man I'll ask him if he knows about Audie Murphy.
