I remember seeing the movie "To Hell and Back" when it first came out and couldn't help but be impressed by the unassuming nature of Audie Murphy. I admired him tremendously; and still do.

I would like to have at least shook Audie Murphy's hand. He was definitely a great war hero who I will never forget. I salute you.

Thank you for this wonderful site and all who have contributed to it. When I was in my teens I loved watching Audie Murphy's films. One day my mother (who had served in the Air Force in Australia during World War 2, mentioned that he was the most decorated American soldier of WW2. To know that Audie was indeed a hero as well as a much admired actor has kept me interested in this man all my life. I still have the newspaper clippings from our local paper when he died. I am 61 years of age and have been avidly reading all the information on your wonderful website. Thank you for keeping his memory alive.
