I had the biggest crush on Audie when I was young girl because he was from Texas, and few stars did at that time. He had a ranch a few hundred miles from where we lived and I had always hoped to meet him in person. Found out later that he spent very little time there. Seems the ranch was more of a tax writer off than a place to visit. After that I was so disappointed in him, thought less of him. That's the way the way a young girl with a crush thinks. Still like to see his movies as an adult. Added: February 15, 2022

Sadly your right about real HEROES. I come from along list of HEROES. Not decorated like Audie Murphy but certainly a HEROES. My Grandfather always look up to people like Audie Murphy cause they got the stuff Never quite knew what that meant until I got older. Some of that stuff is trained behavior and sometimes people are born with a little extraordinary stuff like Audie Murphy sometimes a person needs to be able to look at somebody with extra stuff that's why their HEROES. Hello, I just became aware of Audie Murphy by randomly checking out the movie "No Name on the Bullet", which came on tv a few days ago on Grit Network. I researched Audie and learned of his military accomplishments. I can't wait to watch more Audie Murphy movies. What a hero. I realize the resemblance of Audie's life as depicted in Quentin Tarantino's movie Inglourious * * *. I recognized right away Mr. Murphy's life was the inspiration for Frederick Zoeller. Good to see some directors pay homage to great heros like Mr. Murphy. Can't wait to watch more of his films. God bless Mr. Murphy Added: February 1, 2022

Audie Murphy was always an idol of mine at an early age. Both my parents served in World War 11 and my Father gave me the basic facts of his military career that really attracted my interest in this Great American Hero! Use to watch his westerns and war movies regularly! I was born in 1951 and enlisted in the US Army on 6Apr71. I was in Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. when Audie died on May 28,1971, in an airplane crash! Very sad that such a Great Man had to die that way, after all that he had been through! I am 70 now and my parents are both long since dead! I would love to visit Arlington Cemetery in Washington DC to visit, my hero, Audie Leon Murphy! God has a special place for American Hero's and Audie will always be remembered as the "Most Decorated Soldier of World War 11". That is something that nobody will ever be able to top! Thank you Audie, for who you are and what you did! The USA will never forget you! RIP my son! You have earned eternal rest! I hope to see you sometime when I get there! Salute! When I think of the word hero, the first person I think of is Audie Murphy. The tribulations of his life and his actions in battle never cease to fascinate me. I know I could never do what he did. Rest in piece Audie Murphy. Your legend will never be forgotten.
