Audie has to be the toughest and most respected American soldier of all time. I grew up following his movie career and I am in awe of his exploits. His wife was also a much loved lady and devoted her life to veterans welfare. Both are an inspiration to all who know their story.

Thanks for creating a dedicated website to the memory of this most important Texan. As time passes, the meaning of his cruelly short life will be more clearly understood, as PTSD itself is more understood. Ave atque vale, Major Murphy--Steven L. Thompson, former SSGT, USAF (active duty, 1968-1972).

I shall never forget Mr. Audie Murphy. I have always admired and respected this true American hero. I am sitting here tonight watching an old movie, Gunsmoke, which originally aired on tv in 1953. I was getting ready to change the channel when I saw Audie...I was so surprised ..it's still playing. I decided to do a search on him and was hoping American hero would be listed first before actor. He was a great actor but he was an even greater hero. He should never be forgotten.
