It is refreshing to see a website as this to honor a great American Hero like Audie Murphy. I just had the honor of escorting my Father, James C. Laney (Sergeant, Pacific Theater) to Washington D.C., As part of Honor Flight DFW #21 to visit the WWII Memorial to honor his fallen Brothers In Arms. There were 41 WWII Veterans on this trip and it was not only one of the highlights of my life, but a dream come true and a memory that will live on with these Veterans till the day they are called home. As part of this incredible journey, the visit to Audie Murphy's grave at Arlington was one of many emotional moments of the trip. To see that many WWII Veterans stand on frail limbs and salute one of their own from Texas was truly a site to behold. Thank you so much for honoring one of the great ones from "the greatest generation" because in doing so you also honor my Father and all of the other Veterans who have served the greatest country in the World thru their service. As a child I was a fan, I saw all his movies and as I got older I bought his book, then bought copies of all his movies. To Hell and Back was the movie I watched the most because we need heroes so much in this country and he lived it. He gave so much to his country and got so little back, but I will always be grateful. I am grateful to all the men and women who have served our country. They deserve our gratitude forever. Added: October 24, 2014

A hero that was to young to serve and to young to die. Faithfully fulfilled his duty with honor and dignity. He should be placed as an example to the men and women of this nation to show what courage and honor are about. Freedom is to be held close to our hearts, not let someone else defend us.
