Audie Murphy became one of my personal heroes at an early age, when I watched "To hell and back". To think that a young man of his stature could go on to become our most decorated soldier in history is amazing. And all the while he would just say he was just doing his job. No wonder he came home and became one of the box office's top money makers until "Star Wars". What I love the most about him is that it never went to his head. :)

When my father went to the Audie Murphy VA hospital I found that Mr.Murphy was famous. I had seen some of his films but was unaware of his military life. May this man never be forgotten, he was a true hero. God bless.

I read his story when I was a youngster and it inspired me to make a career out of my naval service (23 years).
