I had 4 siblings serving in WW2. Thank the Lord they all came home alive.
They were truly the greatest generation of Americans who will soon be forgotten.

I just found GRIT tv. I love it! Of course I know who Audie Murphy was, but I have never seen all of his movies. I have seen some (watching Destry right now). Maybe GRIT will play "To Hell and Back " soon

I grew up watching Audie Murphy movies. I was "in love" with him. LOL! And my maiden name was also Murphy! When he died in the plane crash, I saved the newspaper article, which I still have today. Just in the last couple of years, I was able to visit his gravestone in Arlington. When I walked up to take a picture of it, there was a single rose placed there - I burst into tears and dropped to the ground in grief. I couldn't believe my reaction! He's been gone since 1971 and I was acting like he died yesterday! Audie, you may be gone in body, but you are very much alive in spirit!

Audie, you will always be remembered. I've past your story on to my children and they will do the same for their children. We need more men like you in today's America. God bless the Murphy family.

I grew up watching Audie Murphy movies with my Dad. Even today I still watch his movies and tell anyone who will listen about this wonder man and what he did for his country. When he died in 1971 this country lost not only a movie actor but a man who showed what a true hero really is not only to this country but to other soldiers as well. When John F Kennedy made the famous quote "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country" Mr. Murphy did exactly what President Kennedy asked of every man at that time.

I just watched "To Hell and Back" again for the first time, since I was a young boy. Audie Murphy's story was mesmerizing when I was studying WWII history. My grandfather also served during the war and needed waivers for his age and weight. Although today's media may not honor his legacy or those brave men during of our "Greatest Generation", true Patriots of our nation will continue sharing their stories. In the Navy, we have this as part of our Sailor's Creed: "I represent the fighting spirit of the Navy, and those who have gone before us to defend freedom and democracy around the world." God Bless Audie Murphy and God Bless the United States of America!

After updating my tv to get more channels, I came across a specific channel that was showing Audie Murphy movies.

Years ago, the TV channels use to carry more westerns and war movies; but, today they don't. I used to sit with my dad and watch westerns and war movies that starred Audie Murphy and other actors and was never embarrased. Today the movies that are out there are violent and gory.
