Mr. Audie Leon Murphy is one of the four most profound Americans, ever. The first being Mr. John Paul Jones, from the revolutionary war; the second is Mr. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, from the Civil War; the third was Mr. Alvin C. York, from WWI, and Mr. Murphy, from WWII. I am dismayed that is none of these men are honored, with national days of remembrance on their birthdays in the school systems. Mr. Audie Murphy was not only the embodiment of the American spirit, but he the exemplar of hard work, decency and empathy. Yesterday, I introduced Mr. Murphy to by 10 and 12 year old boys, with his film, "To Hell and Back," and explained that he was the real hero, not NFL or NBA players. Till we wise up and teach our children who our real heroes are, on a regular basis, we will stand lose not only our American spirit (that Mr. Murphy best exemplified), but our freedoms as well. My most humblest and deepest gratitude to Mr. Audie Murphy, who could not live the American dream as a young boy, but made it possible for folks like me, from other places, to have my dream here!Sir, you are alive in me -- thank you!! Every young man knew who he was when I was young. We all knew of his heroism and saw him in films. As a matter of fact, To Hell and Back is on T.V. as I'm typing this.
