I am an honorably discharged United States Army Veteran, I have resided here in, Cheyenne, WY. since July of 2011. I hope to arrive there in San Antonio, sometime around the first week of September of this year. My father, deceased 1993, was a born and raised Texan, who was in the Army Air Corp, during WWII, retiring as a Major, from the Air Force in 1961. My youngest son, graduated from West Point Military Academy this summer. I hope not to just visit the American Legion Post 336, when I move there, but also the Audie L. Murphy Memorial, as well. Audie Murphy was one of my childhood heroes. I had no idea he was a war hero then. For me he was just the quintessential cowboy. I was honored to serve in the United States Army from August 1968 until November 1989 (a little over 21 years). No one was much interested in what I'd been doing when I came home from Viet Nam in 1971 either. It's sad to see that our most decorated WWII veteran was ignored and forgotten. I'm proud to know that my childhood hero was a fellow team mate in the United States Army. I salute Audie Murphy and am grateful for his example and service. Added: June 27, 2016

I have been a fan of Audie Murphy since I was young and would to the movies with my dad. I read To Hell and Back multiple times and have a DVD of the movie along with a collection of his other movies. I would like to be able to get more of his other movies that I don't have. Added: June 24, 2016

Went to the Audie L Murphy / American Cotton Museum this past weekend in honor of Audie's birthday on Monday. It was really nice and I had a great time talking with the people working there. I would love to return in the near future since they told me that they had received some 7 boxes of stuff donated by the family in the past couple years and are awaiting the signed release of ownership (I guess the Museum has to have ownership for insurance purposes) so that they can display it all. Hoping that this happens soon so I can return and see it all! Added: June 23, 2016
