He was and still is my favorite western movie star. In
1970 I worked at a sevice station in Plano, Texas that was next to cafe he had owned earlier. He was often taled of how he would come and drink coffee and make conversation with the folks.

Audie Murphy was an inspiration for me throughout a 33 year military career (1957-1991). I read stories of his exploits while I was as young as 10 years old.

Soldiers today would be well served to study his life.

While in JROTC during my highschool years, I was selected to be apart of the districts written competition. Sgt. Brown suggested, I write about the great Audie Murphey and I didn't have a clue. Back then there was no internet...so off to the library I went. I couldn't believe all that this man had done in battle and for America. I wrote the paper, won the competition and continued by search for knowledge on Murphy. I had gathered so much research, the school used by knowledge in every competition there was for years. His name came across my mind the other day and I searched now "the web" and saw this awesome page. It's great!

I just wanted to say I think this website is a fantastic idea. To today's generation WWII, Korea, and even Vietnam are distant memories told in history books. Sites like this that tell the true stories of American Valor are too few and far between. Keep up the great work and thanks for keeping the memory alive.
