When I was young, I used to watch films with Audie Murphy and liked them very much. I did not know that he was the most decorated American soldier of WWII. Knowing that, I am even a bigger fan now. Added: April 6, 2011

I'm a bit ashamed that I learned of Audie Murphy's heroic military feats from a rock anthem written by a 23 year old! I thought he was merely a singing cowboy! But I am so glad that this song has people asking questions and feeling so thankful for his brave deeds. My friends' 10 year old son insisted his guitar instructor teach him the song! My teen age hero even at the time I was not aware of his heroic actions. It was mostly his western movies that stirred my teen age heart. It is really nice to know that all that teen age fanticy was not wasted on the teen age fanticies of today. A REAL hero. This comes from a family of men that have seen action from all the way back to the Revolution. The ones I remember is my father in WW1, gassed in France, lost one brother in New Guina in 1942,5 brothers in the Marine Corp, 1 in the Air Force. They have served in Lebenon in the very early 60's, Cuba I believe in 1962,and 2 in VietNam. Thanks to all those people, let's hope and pray it was not, and IS not all in vain. Added: April 4, 2011
