I remember Audie from the news and movies of the 50's and 60's. I grew up in the Army and heard about him from many of my dad's friends. I served in the army myself during the cold war in Germany with Master Sargent Rogers who was a neighbor of Audie Murphy before the war. Rogers himself served in WWII and made it to the rank of Major. He would be retired now and perhaps living in your area. If you know of him perhaps you will share this message with him and extend my thanks for his many stories of Audie and for the outstanding service he himself gave to the United States in three wars. I do not know if you will again include comments I make on behalf of Audie Murphy but I have again contacted Encore Westerns and May 5th they are showing Ride A Crooked Trail which is one of my all time favorites - I have asked them to include some of his earlier films i.e. Kid form Texas Kansas Raiders and the like - it is a great channel and I feel it is a way of keeping his name alive and perhaps if some YOUNG PEOPLE watch ENCORE they would watch him and want to know more about him - what a story what a life and what a shame he is gone - but again not forgotten by the military and/or his fans -now Hollywood that's another story - they should do a movie on this man. I work at the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital here in San Antonio and realized how much I didn't know about its namesake. As a veteran, I am always in awe at the bravery and dedication of veterans before me, like Audie Murphy.
