I recently watched Audie Murphy in "The Red Badge of Courage." I thought he gave a fine,sensitive performance as the young Union soldier. I'm surprised his acting career didn't give him more "A" starring roles. He seemed to have enough talent to do more than just "B" westerns.

Audie Murphy was one of my early childhood hero's. I will still sit and watch one of his movies on TCM anytime I get a chance.

God Bless the United States of America and the brave men and women who serve to protect our freedom.

I am a SFC in the US Army, and a SAMC member. I wanted to say thank you for this website, and everything that you are doing. It was best said by the man himself;

"You Lead From the Front"

Respectfully,
SFC Douglas

Destry...I would watch this movie every time it aired with my father. Later I found that Audie grew up nearby my father's home town of Alice, TX.. I was fascinated as a very young girl of his "boylike" features.

What can I say that has not already been said about this great man? I only wish I could have met him in person to shake his hand and to thank him for the sacrifice he and his comrades made for the United States of America, our allies during WWII and for freedom throughout the world in general. I am truly proud to know that Audie Murphy was an American who represented the American spirit and all that is good and honorable about America. :o

It is a sadness that he left us so young. This MAN, a GIANTl among ALL other men. We could truly use such a idyllic and patrioticly oriented hero now more than ever when our youth seem so lost and without enough of a moral compass to show them how to gain in life through total self sacrifice and why dedicated patriotism is not only politically correct but actually a necessity in order for our country to regain what it has not merely lost but rather forgetfully dropped by the wayside. Mr Murphy would fall to tears at the sight of our youth today and what drives them. Happy birthday to my hero Audie Murphy your sacrifices were not in vain. They will echo forever throughout the halls of the history of freedom. Sincerely,Robert George Green
