I am a USN veteran. All veterans, no matter what role they played in the service of their country, deserve our thanks, and respect. Audie more so than others. Audie loved his family, his country, and his friends on, and off the battlefield. His courage in the face of adversity, and his dedication to the welfare of his brothers in arms are an inspiration to us all. He was a small, average person, with little education, who's heart was filled with an unbelievable courage, and love. That heart, and love made him a great man who could do, and did extraordinary things most others could not find it in themselves to do. I wish I could have met him. Next to JFK, he is someone who I wish I could have shook hands with, and given my thanks to. God Bless him, and keep him always. A great American hero indeed!

I am 57 Years of Age. I Served in the Coast Guard. I was Born in San Franciso. Lived in Marin and Sonoma Counties. Relocated to this location on Year 2007. 3 Chappelones in This State. Of Course With the Area's Military Bases Here, Audie Murphy was always commented in the most respected praise. Even The Same for My Foster Father, Army Master Sergent Leroy J Weese. Green Beret, Weapons and Medical Tech. Went thru Korea and Vietnam. Final days in Army, at Letterman Hospital. When Mr Murphy Died it was a Big ( sad ) Deal. Also My Foster Father and Team were pictured in a Army recruiting pamphlet as The Toughest, Best Trained Team of All Time. He is 3rd from Left. We'd watch the Movies, a lot of Talk about Mr Murphy Mostly. During many Movies, He was silent often. No yelling,

In the early to mid 1950s Audie was acquainted with gun dealer Hy Hunter and appeared on the back of American Weapons Co. catalogues, presumably as an endorsement for Great Western Arms Co. who made the Colt SA look alike revolvers. Does anyone have knowledge of this association or better yet any related correspondence regarding Audie's gun collecting activities.

It's hard to explain why men like Audie do the things that are above and beyond the call of duty. Thank God they are there when needed. I have twenty five years in the army. I saw combat 1968 to 1969 Vietnam. I was assigned to the 2nd Bn. 138th field artillery. They were hit hard by the enemy on tomahawk fire base. They fought hard, never gave ground to the viet-cong and continued to supply artillery support for the 101 airborne troops.
They ranked with the best fighters I ever saw in Viet-nam.

I'm just a big fan of Audie Murphy and his movies from years past. And as a veteran myself, I honor Audie Murphy for his service and sacrifice for this nation. He was a true American hero. Wished we had more people like him in the world.
