My mother read the article about Audie in
Life magazine when she was a teenager. She was so taken and impressed that she vowed to name her first child, if it was a boy, Audie.
In February of 1951 I came into the world and was given this name. I carry it proudly, plus the fact that it is unusual, people ask me about it and it gives me the chance to talk about the great man that I was named after.

I loved watching Audie Murphy's movies when I was a kid. When I was old enough to understand his military career, that made me love him even more. He was a true American Hero.

I recently discovered that Audry Murphy, my favorite western movie actor, was a great war hero, for me it was extraordinary and I admire him much more knowing his story, they must feel very proud and for all the legacy he left after his death, I loved Audry all infinity and beyond, a great hero who gave his all for his country.
