I have always admired Audie and other war time heroes such as Al York. These people embody the true meaning of being an American.
Culture today does not seem to recognize these traits. Rather instead they want total freedom without the responsibility that goes with that freedom. I was decorated during my service so I feel I know what I am talking about.

I am so very thankful to have found Audie's Memorial. He and I are so much alike it's scary. I am about 18 years younger but grew up with him a Hero. I have enjoyed all of His Westerns and still watch them all of the time. As a side note that special gun belt that was made for Him was also worn in Ride A Crooke Trail. I work Fast draw and have driven My Wife crazy hitting repeat on the T.V when watching Him draw at a very fast time in Gunsmoke. Your Dad was a treasure and it has always saddened Me that He was taken at such a young age. There was so much more He could have given us as a Western actor and it would have been a pleasure to be his stunt double as I did stunt and back ground acting Myself. If ever I can do anything to help with this site it would be My privilege.

As I prepare to contend for the auspicious opportunity to become a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club through a comprehensive boarding process, I am amazed at his great accomplishments. From rags to hero on mere ambition and selfless service. A great American whose influence beyond the grave can still be a source of inspiration for many of us. Thank you, Sir.
