I remember hearing of Audie Murphy, and others who fought in WWII for our freedom. It is easy to forget that WWII was a war in which our own lives were dependent on the outcome.

Thank you Audie and all the others, including an uncle of mine who died in France during WWII!

The Presidential Medal of Freedom should have been awarded long ago. Audie Murphy wasn't just a war hero, he was a pioneer of PTSD, he refused to advertise drinking and smoking because he thought more of a nations health than money. Most of all he was a good proud American who rose from nothing and fought for peace. RIP Audie.

An American hero who is 'not' forgotten. My dad and
I watched his movies. I am a 71 tear old women and
am watching his movie right now. He was an inspiration
to me, I am a retired nurse, and farmer from the Central
Valley in California. My dad told me of his heroic story.
Also, Audie Murphy was the reason I learned to ride
horses, since I owned and enjoyed them, thanks to his
wonderful riding skills. I thank him for his service,
so we can enjoy our freedom which appears to be in chaos, but just watching him in the movies inspires
me to not give up. We are Americans and we are still
in the best country there is thanks to a man who served his country named Audie Murphy.

By the book, He should not have been able to volunteer. Murphy would not be denied and the rest of his life showed what being a patriot meant. So many today could learn a lot by following his example of love of country, honor, placing others first before oneself........AAF
North Africa crew of a marauder, POW Stalag 7and 17. Never met Mr. Murphy; knew only through post war notoriety. He is one of the very few that all would be proud to know .....even for a small moment in time. Happy 100th Birthday Audie. We can sit at the same table now and swap war stories.

My hope and prayer is that one day children in this country will be taught about Patriots like Audie Murphy. May we never forget the sacrifices made by men like Audie Murphy on our behalf. Thank you for this website.
