When I was a teenager - I read "To Hell and Back" , and then saw the movie. The courage of Mr. Murphy stuck with me thru those years - even now - I'm 65.

The images, the battles, the camaraderie.

Reading the book, watching the movie, thinking about Mr. Murphy has been a wonderful experience

Mr. Murpy was a true hero. It is a shame that he died in apeace time plane crash after all he went through in the war.

An incredible hero comes along like Audie Murphy MAYBE once in any big, complicated good-'ole World War. Thankfully time passes and we have trouble even believing whether another war like WWII will ever come again. At least we hope another one doesn't happen, anyway.

But what this boy-hero did was astounding by anyone's standards from any country. He left us way too soon, and we got nothing like what we wanted him to have shared with us before passing.

Perhaps like General Patton, if the future holds another great conflict anything like WWII sometime later in our history, perhaps Patton and Murphy and all those warriors reincarnated throughout the ancient times will appear again to do the things they have done so often being called on to do it once more because they are the ones that give guidance and more importantly, courage to the millions that follow them into battles, assuring good wins out over evil everytime.

It's just my 2-cents-worth, but thanks for the opportunity to share it

God bless Audie Murphy and all the men and women of World War II.
We need heros like Audie Murphy. Our children are not taught enough about Audie and the heroic deeds he did. Or the heroic deeds of others in a time of great need of our nations history.
God bless every veteran, and thank you for serving.

So glad to find this site, it is imperative that his memory be kept alive. He was such a great role model for us kids growing up, brave, honest, and yet seemed so humble. His movies made us proud to be Americans. Thanks for what you are doing.
