My roomate at the FBI National Academy is fromTexas and he insisted that we go to Arlington Cemetary and visit the grave of Audy Murphy. I am very familuar wiyh hes history and his legacey. I was surprised to see that his grave listed him as a Major. I was not aware that he rose to that grade. I was in the Air Force during Vietnam, and raised both of my sons with the history of The most Honorable Audy Murphy, Truely ojhne of America's BEST.

When people ask me who my favorite actor is? I answer easy, Audie Murphy! Many actors have Accadamy Awards, Emmy awards. No other actor earned the C.M.H.,. I have High standards for my hero's. Having been a Emergency Medical Technician and having the honor of working with the Audie Murphy VA Hospital. I once was able to see a special display of Maj. Murphy's belongings. It seemed very impresive to see part of a hero.

Hello, I am a Vietnam Veteran of 1967-68 and was at Khe Sanh at the time of the 77 Day Siege of the Tet Offensive. I was on Hill 861. My hat's off to Audie Murphy for what he did in time of war. He is a TRUE COMBAT Veteran & Hero. I know what combat is about, I was with Kilo Company, 3/26 Marines.
Whenever I feel sorry for myself because of my health problems, I'm reminded everytime I go to the VA Hospital, I'm not so bad after all.
I remember watching Audie Murphy's movies and especially the Military ones, always gave me the courage to do the best I could in everything I was challenged to do while growing up. Thanks to people like Audie Murphy and this website, there will be other War Heroes we can look up to and encourage others, not just in war, but to apply the same kind of courage and selflessness shown by ones like Audie Murphy. He made an impression in my life and others I'm sure. God Bless all Veterans of all wars and God Bless you for the website in keeping
a new generation aware and informed of what it means to serve and sacrifice for our Country and Freedom...

I am very happy and honored to respond to this site. I am a retired commercial pilot and am humbled by the accomplishments of Audie Murphy. I remember his western movies very well, as I saw them in the 1950's and 1960's as a boy. I had seen "To Hell and Back" Last night. I have seen this movie many times. I noticed that today is May 28,2012 and it is the anniversary of his unfortunate flying accident May 28, 1971. Please accept my thanks to his family and friends to honor and remember Audie Murphy as a decorated American Hero. I only wish that I could have met him in person.

Thank you ---- Fred Repay

I just watched the movie to "To Hell and Back" for the first time and loved it. I am a student of history, particularly WW II and I found it very insprational. What impressed me about Audie was his sincere humbleness along with his courage and awesome leadership. I ordered the book from Barnes & Noble and am looking forward to reading it I will help keep his memory alive and tell my grown children about him. We desperately need people like Audie as role models for our young people today. His story should be taught by teachers in every school in America. Thank you for this memorial website and I wll tell others about it.
