I have been an admirer since I was 14. I couldn't sleep one night and joined my father watching To Hell and Back on the history channel. That night Audie Murphy became one of my heroes and he still is; I wish I could have known him.

When I was in my early teens my friend & I rode the bus downtown to a tv station( don't remember name) because Audie was in town on a tour to promote his latest movie.
I don't remember the movie but my friend & I saw Audie waiting to go on. He was quite & seemed rather shy. My friend & I got up the nerve to approach him to ask for his autograph. We got it but since then I lost it. But I can still see him silent & almost reluctant in the chair just waiting for the show to start. I shall never forget how calm, quite & shy he looked. I knew he was a war hero but it had been about 10 yrs. since the war was over so I didn't really know what a great person & hero he was. But I will always remember Audie Murphy!!!

My dad schooled me on Audie Murphy and many other great americans. Marcus Luttrel and Chris Kyle have carried on the American and Texan tradition of bravery and valor in combat. God bless Texas and all our young heroes. And pray for the families of those that didnt make it home.

I wish Speilberg would make a life story of Audie Murphey along the lines of Saving Private Ryan. The current generation needs to know.
