I was just recently a Chaperone with my 14 year old daughter's Eighth grade class to Washington DC & New York. On our visit our tour leader Mr.Bob Deyo walked us through Arlington National Cemetary and it was during this tour that he pointed out the Hero Audie Murphy's burial plot and told our group about this Man's many accomplishments and what he did for our country. I being 53 years of age did not serve in the military,however my father John H Connell was a World War Two vet in the Army Air Corps and I had learned about Audie from my father,however it was great to pass this Hero's story on to my daughters generation. I server with the 3/7 199th Light Infantry Brigade in Vietnam 1966 to 1967 as an infantry squad leader but Audie Murphy was in a combat class by himself. A true hero and I am glad his memory is kept alive after all these years. A hand salute to one of Americas true great heros. Added: May 23, 2014

There are not enough words anyone can express to all the WWII heroes, both living and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve the greatest country in the world to this day...but I have been a devotee of Audie Murphy from the days when I was a child and my father, God rest his soul, also a veteran of WWII and a Major in the chemical warfare division of the Army Air Corps, introduced me to him and I can't think of a better example of a human being who fought with more courage and with more devotion to his comrades, country and the good Lord than Li'l Texas Audie Murphy, the best example of a man who overcame fear many times to risk himself and garner the most medals for bravery of any Army WWII veteran and there were alot. Let us never forget him and try to follow in his footsteps! Added: May 23, 2014
