I have a grandson who at 12 years old could put most adults in this country to shame with his knowledge of World War II and it all started out with him watching "To Hell and Back" with his grandfather when he was about 7 years old. He started asking questions about Audie Murphy thinking it was just a movie but my husband explained it was all true. It was like a light went off. I do need to explain he is very smart and far ahead of his peers. Since that time he has been like a sponge for everything he can learn about that time and the war. Last summer he went to England and went through Winston Churchill's War Museum and came home to explain every thing he saw. All of this because of the inspriation of Audie Murphy. It is so sad we no longer have men to teach our children what patriotism, God and Country are about. Thank you for letting me see this memorial. Carol Conner. Added: November 12, 2017

Audie was not only a dedicated soldier and advocate for veterans, but I think he was also a pretty good actor! We won't see anyone like him again, especially as today's media and education system doesn't spend any time on educating our kids about true heroes like him. Added: November 12, 2017

Watched the ceremony at Arlington. Laying of wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown for Veterans Day Nov. 11. Audie was on my mind and in my heart and all other veterans of past and present. All those who have been in battle were forever changed. Those with wounds visible and invisible. Audie always spoke out for those causes of PTSD. He was always concerned for others. I watched Audie Murphy movies over and over again my whole life. My Mother was his biggest fan and I watched with her. She is with the Lord now and my little brother jokes that the first thing Mom did when she reached heaven was to run down Audie Murphy.
