I just finished reading Audie's biography and saw so many similarities to my life excluding war experience as I am 10 years younger than he would have been as I am 78 and was drafted during the Korean War and saw no combat as a truce was in effect 2 months later. But I did see combat in the form of major riots in 1968 as a firefighter in D.C. at that time. We were being shot at while fighting numerous explosions and fires and was critically injured as we were fighting with water hoses and firefighting training skills. I was retired January 1, 1969 due to injuries acquired in the line of duty. Another similarity was I resembled Audie and many of my co-workers and friends were calling me "AUDIE" by name right after I got out of the military in 1956. At the time I really did not to much about him except for western movies he was filming at that time. I've been to his gravesite two times and both times felt like I was standing on sacred ground. He, been gone quite a while but he is still missed by any red blooded AMERICAN!!

Dear Sirs, I read Audie's book "to hell and back" when I was a kid of 10 or 11. Raised in a military family with a military history going back to the Civil war (both sides), Audie became my hero, even above John Wayne.
9 months ago, I uploaded his movie to you tube, because with all the wars we'd become involved in. I felt it necessary that all Americans be reminded of what a true American Hero was. Someone who did their job because it was the right thing to do. Not for the glory.
I uploaded it because I could not find it anywhere to rent or watch it. I didn't even think about copyright infringement. I thought the story was more important. But because I did that universal filed a complaint against me, causing me to lose most of my privileges on you tube. They didn't even ASK me to remove it,just forced you tube to suspend me. If made aware of the copyright, I would have removed the movie. I never meant no harm, only to honor Audie's memory and sacrifices.
So to you, I apologize for any harm caused.
I meant only respect for America's GREATEST HERO.
Sincerely yours,
Franklin E. Christman II

I had never heard of Audie Murphy until referenced in Tom Clancy novel. I'm glad I looked him up; it seems he was an amazing person and soldier.

I always admired Audie's courage. I've no doubt that acting took a great deal of courage, too.
