Have always held a special place in my heart ever since I saw the movie of his life. What a tremendous man he was. We all can thank him for his bravery and service. I lost a father in WW11 a month before the end of the war. I was born a about 2 weeks later. I have always been very proud of him and all the soldiers who have served and those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Thanks, Audie. Thanks, Dad.

I met Audie Murphy in 1959, and had a conversation with him that lasted approximately 7 minutes. He was very nice and friendly. He had just purchased an airplane at Whiteman Airport in Pacoima, CA, and was preparing for takeoff. I was a CAP cadet and part of a nationwide FAA survey team to determine where every civilian plane on that day was taking off from and heading to. He was flying to his ranch in Texas. I have since visited his grave at Arlington and am gratified that they made a specific pathway to his grave site.

I hope to stop by the museum in Greenville when I visit that part of Texas again. I was a big fan of this great hero and patriot. I still remember how sad I was when he was killed so tragically. I am a published children's author and song writer. My poem entitled "Your Legacy, Our Freedom" has been used at numerous Memorial Day Celebrations and I later added a melody to the lyrics to create the song entitled, "How Much Longer Will Your Legacy Last". I am saddened by the lack of patriotism in our nation and especially in the leadership of our country.

Dearest Audie
The flowers we lay on your grave shall wither and decay, but the love of him that lies beneath, shall never fade away. Missed forever, forgotten never. We love you, Audie.
