Childhood photographs of Audie Murphy up through the time he enlisted in the Army are very rare. This is understandable considering the Murphy family was extremely poor. Photos would probably have been considered a luxury.

Photos numbers four through eight may have been taken after Audie returned from the war. These photos show Audie outdoors enjoying himself in the company of an unidentified person, with a dog, hoeing a garden, and standing near a car. Regardless, Audie is very young in these photos and they are not out of place in this section.
