Background information

Audie Murphy recognized the opportunity available to him as an actor as interest and popularity in television grew. In 1959 he began filming a short-lived television series known as "Whispering Smith". The series was a western situated in Denver and Audie Murphy was the star playing Tom "Whispering" Smith. Guy Mitchell and Sam Buffington co-starred. Plagued with problems "Whispering Smith" was a total of 26 episodes long before it was cancelled in 1961.

An arrested robber who is blinded in a shootout is promised some reward money to pay for an operation to restore his sight but only if he leads Tom "Whispering" Smith to the loot. Treachery and deceit are found along the way as the thief's former accomplices follow and plot to steal the hidden money for themselves. Guest stars include Jan Merlin and Carol Byron.

Shortly afterwards, a telegram alerts the police of their mistake and detectives Smith and Romack pursue the murderous gang to Leadville for a final showdown.
