Medal of Liberated France Medal and Ribbon Set
|
The Medal of Liberated France was authorized by France in 1947. It was awarded to any French military or civilian person who actively participated in the Liberation of France from German Occupation during World War II. Allied soldiers who also fought on French soil were also authorized the award.
Because of the hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers who actively fought in France along with French resistance, this was one of the most commonly authorized and earned foreign awards of World War II.
The Medal of Liberated France has not been awarded since 1957.
