Summary: Audie Murphy co-produced this film and plays the part of a Union soldier who deserts the Army. Lieutenant Frank Hewett, played by Audie, is out to warn former Texas neighbors and the women of the territory that the Indians are on the warpath and attacks are certain to occur. Unfortunately, all the homesteaders are women and their husbands are away fighting for the Confederate Army. Even still, Lieutenant Hewett overcomes their initial distrust and convinces the women to take refuge in an abandoned mission. Once they are relocated, Lieutenant Hewett then trains the women how to fight. The only other man at the mission runs away in fear but then leads the Indians back to the mission. Surrounded and badly outnumbered, they women stand off the Comanches. Lieutenant Hewett then goes back to the Army to await his court martial for desertion but the women come to his defense and he is acquitted.
