The countries of Sierra Leone (1991), Guyana (1993 and 1997), Nevis (1995), and Palau (2001) have issued commemorative stamps in honor of Audie L. Murphy. These very small countries have all discovered that a very large part of their annual fiscal budget can be collected from stamp sales ... primarilly to U.S. collectors. The U.S. Post Office, who refused to honor Audie Murphy with his own stamp until the year 2000, took notice of the profits being earned by other countries on Audie Murphy Stamp sales. While there were other factors involved, including a deluge of complaints from U.S. citizens and elected officials, the profits of foreign stamp bearing Audie Murphy's likeness helped reverse the "no stamp for Audie" policy of the stubborn U.S. Postal Service.
The stamp above was issued by country Sierra Leon in 1991. Sierra Leone, officially known as the Republic of Sierra Leone, is a country in West Africa. It is bordered by Guinea in the north, Liberia in the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean in the southwest.

This souvenir sheet of stamps was issued by Nevis in 1995. Audie's stamp is at the top, second stamp from the left. Nevis is an island nation in the Caribbean Sea, located near the northern end of the Lesser Antilles archipelago, about 220 miles (350 km) southeast of Puerto Rico and fifty miles (eighty km) west of Antigua.

To the left is a commemorative stamp sheet, titled "World War II on the Silverscreen" issued in 1997 by the country of Guyana. Audie Murphy is seen in the stamp on the top right corner of the sheet. Other actors depicted include Burgess Meredith, Gary Cooper, James Mason, Robert Taylor, and John Garfield. Guyana, officially known as the Co-operative Republic of Guyana and previously known as British Guiana, is a state on the northern coast of South America that is culturally part of the Anglophone Caribbean. It should not to be confused with Ghana, Guinea, or French Guiana.

This souvenir commemorative stamp sheet was issued by Palau in 2001. Palau, officially known as the Republic of Palau, is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean, some 500 miles (800 km) east of the Philippines and 2,000 miles (3,200 km) south of Tokyo. It is one of the world's newest nations.
