Today the U.S. Federal Government's prints and issues to each living Medal of Honor recipient a "business-like-card" identifing the living medal recipient as someone who has earned America's highest decoration for valor in combat. Although this policy began AFTER Audie Murphy died, a small quantiy of replica cards were authorized for printing in 1998. Mr. Stan Smith (now deceased), the president of the Audie Murphy National Fan Club had a small number of these cards printed and then distributed them to a small number of Audie Murphy National Fan Club members. Collector note: an actual card given to a living recipient does not have their signature and the layout is also slightly different. Also note that these cards were never actually owned by Audie Murphy.
